Day Sixteen
Goal: Play around with syllable structures.
Phonotactics
In its current form, this protolanguage will have a syllable structure of (C)V. Consonants can optionally fill in the onset, and codas are always a vowel.
The idea of consonant clusters will be further explored as this protolanguage goes through a series of sound changes in its future.
Day Seventeen
Goal: Create nonce forms of varying lengths.
Prosody
On multisyllabic units, this protolanguage has its primary word-level stress fixed on the second syllable. Stressed vowels may tend to have slightly lengthened duration and more intensity.
A secondary word-level stress, or beyond when applicable, will fall after any [ɾ]voiced dental/alveolar tap, [r]voiced dental/alveolar trill, [ʔ]glottal plosive, or any non-pulmonic ejective consonant sounds.
Nonce Text Example
nusunɛ’o cap’ik’aθɛ ho. ŋu’ɛ’u hucoɬosu osɛ ɕɛ. ŋu’ijɛ k’ici. ɬo. ɬot͡ɕ’oro’ɛ t͡ɕ’o’i hucoɬosu ɲɛ’ot’ɛk’ɛ. ŋɛ mɛ a’a sula. simoɾɛ t͡sʼiɾo. lumop’a p’afak’i. a θip’ijɛ t’ɛt͡ɕ’uŋowɛ jɛ. ɕahi’ifa ɬo ɬup’i’ojo maθi. wumɛ fofohɛ. cija t͡sʼiɾat’u wafo.
